Make your own drum!

I know personally I loved playing the drums we have in class and I was very sad that after the class was over I couldn't play the drums anymore. But! Then I found this video showing you how to make your own drum! I was very excited when I found this video because the drum is so simple, and it actually sounds decent. This is a great way to keep up our education outside of the classroom!

  1. I have to say this is incredibly smart! I like how he uses scrap to create such an amazing sound! I will definitely try to make one because I know I will miss the Drum Circle a lot! :)

  2. This was a great idea Sara! Most or all of us will definitely miss the drum circle once we rotate out. I don't have the materials here to do it, but fall break project anyone?

  3. I have never seen a drum circle in my hometown before! After wataching this, I want to go home, make one and start my own drum circle and see what happens. I am really going to miss drum circle a lot! Erin, we live in differemt places, I could do it on my own as a single project though!

  4. This is really cool! I agree with Alyssa, I've never seen a drum circle either in my town and I think it'd be such a great activity to bring to the community. Music is so accessible and people do not even know it!

  6. This would be a great thing to do with children to get them interesting in crafts and rhythm and music! They would get to make the drums themselves so they would feel connected to their drums, and then they would get to learn about music, community, and confidence in a drum circle! So great!

  7. Reminds me of the days when I used chopsticks on pots and pans... But I agree with Yazid. This should be our next mentor group activity!! I wonder what other instruments we could make with common household items!

  8. Making a drum out of household objects is a wonderful thing! I remember making musical instruments out of toilet paper rolls, rubber bands, wax paper, and dried rice!
It just goes to show how many ways and outlets music can be created.

  9. We should go camping and make out own drums in the wild! Using weird things we find!
